Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a related engineering field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a controls or automation-focused role is required.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%–20% is required.
  • Ability to write and edit basic programmable logic controller ladder routines, including timers, counters, moves, and interlocks, and make small edits in structured text under review.
  • Ability to build basic human-machine interface screens, alarms, diagnostics, and data displays while following user-experience and tag standards.
  • Ability to teach robotic points, set tools and frames, jog robots safely, and adjust simple paths.
  • Ability to configure variable-frequency-drive parameters and assist with basic servo-axis setup, homing, and simple tuning under supervision.
  • Understanding of lockout/tagout and safety input/output fundamentals, with ability to perform functional checks and documentation under guidance to Robotics Industry Association and American National Standards Institute requirements.
  • Ability to perform device and Internet Protocol configuration and basic fieldbus diagnostics, including Ethernet/IP.
  • Ability to run provided cell simulations and adjust simple parameters.
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications and communicate effectively to produce machinery meeting customer and company specifications.
Responsibilities
  • Aid in developing electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system designs for automated work cells.
  • Implement tasks in programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and robot programs within established architecture and standards.
  • Perform input/output mapping, device setup, alarms and diagnostics, and basic data handling.
  • Perform first-pass troubleshooting using schematics and code; document findings and escalate them with clear context.
  • Adhere to codes and electrical standards; keep backups, change logs, input/output and tag maps, and manuals current for the assigned scope.
  • Assist with offline and online debugging, device bring-up, factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing support, and on-site startup under supervision; follow test procedures and record results.
  • Manage customer relationships and requests professionally.
  • Communicate with vendors to specify and source major purchased components.
  • Work constructively with Mechanical, Electrical, Build, and Project Management teams to resolve issues and protect milestones.
