Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and three years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment or field, or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to drive as required, with a valid United States driver's license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.
  • Successful completion of the required criminal background check and fingerprint check.
  • Ability to complete the Arizona PBS Education Outreach Ambassador Training, consisting of two two-hour sessions before the first event.
Responsibilities
  • Complete the Arizona PBS Education Outreach Ambassador Training before the first event.
  • Develop working knowledge of Arizona PBS educational programming, Family Math workshops, Healthy Smiles events, and other outreach resources provided during training.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Family Math workshops, Healthy Smiles events, and community outreach programming in alignment with Arizona PBS goals and grant deliverables.
  • Deliver age-appropriate programming for pre-kindergarten through third-grade students, families, and community members.
  • Reach out to local schools, libraries, community centers, and nonprofit organizations to schedule and host PBS programs and workshops.
  • Represent Arizona PBS in community settings with professionalism, enthusiasm, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with local schools, libraries, early childhood programs, and community organizations to expand awareness of Arizona PBS resources.
  • Promote Arizona PBS educational tools, programming, and initiatives to families, educators, and community partners.
  • Support special outreach events and community programming days as requested by the Assistant Director of Education and Community Impact.
  • Maintain accurate records of events, workshops, and participant data in the designated tracking system.
  • Communicate regularly with the Arizona PBS Education and Community Impact team about event progress, outcomes, and participant feedback.
  • Submit event documentation and data promptly in alignment with grant reporting requirements.
  • Receive coaching and feedback on facilitation strategies and program delivery.
  • Complete at least six pre-approved events during each six-month period to remain active, including two Family Math workshops, two Healthy Smiles events, and two community outreach events.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Library Science, or a closely related field.
  • Current or recent experience as a classroom teacher, librarian, family services professional, or early childhood practitioner.
  • Bilingual proficiency in a language prevalent in the community, such as Spanish or Navajo.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, leading group instruction, or presenting to adult audiences.
  • Ability to manage an independent schedule, track data, and follow through on commitments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional email and phone etiquette.
  • Familiarity with Arizona PBS resources, PBS Kids programming, or early childhood educational frameworks.
  • Current and valid Arizona driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
  • Current Arizona fingerprint clearance card.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Residence in or strong ties to the county or region for which the applicant is applying.
  • Professional appearance and conduct in community and school settings.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned county or region.
  • Availability to attend both Ambassador training sessions before the first event.
  • Ability to occasionally travel to the Arizona PBS main office as needed.
