Requirements
  • A Ph.D. in chemical engineering is preferred; however, applicants with a Ph.D. in a closely related field will also be considered.
  • Applicants with an M.S. degree will be considered at the rank of Lecturer.
  • Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and enthusiasm about engaging students in the classroom.
  • Experience or a strong interest in integrating artificial intelligence and computational tools into chemical engineering pedagogy.
  • Candidates should be capable of teaching core and elective undergraduate chemical engineering courses.
  • Ability to contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of instructional methods.
  • Ability to serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.
  • Willingness to participate in departmental service activities.
  • Submission of cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching philosophy statement, and three references; all compiled in one PDF.
  • Open to hiring at Lecturer/Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Teaching Professor depending on qualifications.
  • Ph.D. preferred; M.S. considered for Lecturer rank.
Responsibilities
  • Teach core and elective undergraduate chemical engineering courses.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of instructional methods.
  • Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate students.
  • Participate in departmental service activities.
  • Integrate artificial intelligence and computational tools into chemical engineering pedagogy (preferred).
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, assess student performance, provide feedback, and maintain classroom environment aligned with Penn State values.
  • Develop and update course materials and assessments as part of ongoing curriculum improvement.
Desired Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in chemical engineering preferred; other closely related fields considered.
  • Experience with integrating artificial intelligence and computational tools into pedagogy is desirable.
  • Experience with or willingness to be involved in academic advising.
  • Not strictly required but preferred for higher ranks (Associate Teaching Professor).
  • Experience in curriculum development and teaching philosophy aligned with undergraduate education.
