Requirements
  • Current ICC certification as Commercial Electrical Inspector
  • Proof of NFPA 70E standards training within the last 3 years
  • Proof of Cal-OSHA 30 hr. training within the last 4 years
  • 3 years or more experience performing electrical/IT inspections for Building Construction
  • Training & knowledge of NFPA -70, 70E, & 72
  • Fall protection and harness training
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of electrical and IT systems across building and terminal construction projects
  • Review and interpret construction documents including blueprints and shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Prepare comprehensive daily inspection reports that document construction activities
  • Verify contractor compliance with local and national electrical codes and LAWA-specific standards
  • Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values
  • Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies as needed
  • Perform inspections of electrical installations including underground utilities, high-voltage switchgear, conduit racks, lighting systems, and fire life safety systems
  • Inspect IT infrastructure installations such as low-voltage systems, door card readers, security cameras, and communication cabling
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience at the journey-level as an electrician
  • Experience overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects
  • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders
  • Expertise in identifying and addressing deficiencies in construction
  • Must be open to learning the prescriptive items required by the agency
  • A strong understanding of diverse code requirements
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
