Requirements
  • A Bachelor level education in mechanical (or similar) engineering
  • 8 years experience in a related technical context
  • Experience in design, analysis and fabrication of large welded structures; or large capital equipment
  • Experience with the design, analysis and installation of components in a high vacuum environment
  • Experience with design and analysis tools
  • An ability to clearly express and critique ideas
  • Attention to detail with an ability to pivot between topics multiple times per day
  • Ability to understand and manage interface issues that bridge complex engineering and physics topics
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage a budget and schedule to ensure the SPARC Cryostat’s activities are completed on time
  • Coordinate the work of the team to ensure the design, analysis, procurement, manufacturing and assembly is achieved on time and on budget
  • Ensure emerging interface conflicts with others are addressed timely
  • Ensure integration of accessory and tenant components as well as shielding
  • Work with Procurement to establish a manufacturing, vendor oversight, acceptance criteria and testing plans
  • Work with the Pre-Assembly and the Assembly teams to ensure work instructions and acceptance
  • Manage a team of engineers and contractors
