Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Five years of progressive accounting experience are required.
  • Experience supporting audits and preparing audit schedules is required.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and nonprofit accounting is required.
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.
  • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate with several stakeholders simultaneously is required.
  • The ability to leverage technology to manage projects and streamline day-to-day work is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the integrity of the Indiana University Alumni Association's financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and keep accounting operations aligned with Foundation policies, internal controls, and reporting standards.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Build management reports and variance analyses for Indiana University Foundation finance leadership.
  • Support reporting to campus, schools, and units on the accounts managed by the team.
  • Serve as project manager for the Indiana University Alumni Association's standalone annual audit and Form 990/990-T filings.
  • Coordinate audit and filing timelines, gather documentation, and prepare audit schedules for review.
  • Review transactions prepared by accounting staff.
  • Confirm billing and cost-sharing amounts between the Indiana University Alumni Association and affiliated partners.
  • Monitor spending against budgets.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Indiana University Alumni Association and Indiana University Foundation Finance.
  • Supervise an accounting team member and provide day-to-day guidance, feedback, and support for professional development.
Desired Qualifications
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA is a plus.
  • Nonprofit, higher education, or foundation experience is preferred.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience is preferred.
