More Dav Pilkey, the end of 'heartstopper,'scarlet Witch' OGN, 'Cat Loaf' Webtoon, more.

More Dav Pilkey, the end of 'heartstopper,'scarlet Witch' OGN, 'Cat Loaf' Webtoon, more. April 10, 2026 Scholastic has released its Summer 2026 catalog, and it features a mix of new titles, and new volumes in continuing series. Here are some of the highlights: Super Diaper Baby: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers is an early graphic novel by Dog Man creator Dav Pilkey, with the same cheeky humor and energetic storytelling as in his later books, but with a bit of a rougher look. Like the first Super Diaper Baby book (see "Graphix to Publish New Color Edition of Early Graphic Novel by 'Dog Man' Creator"), Invasion of the Potty Snatchers was originally published in black and white and is now being re-released in color with "updated spelling and grammar" and more how-to-draw pages. The 208-page paper-over-board hardcover, rated for ages 7 and up, will be released on August 4 with an MSRP of $14.99. Heartstopper # 6, by Alice Oseman, wraps up the best-selling teen romance that spawned a Netflix series (see "Hit 'Heartstopper' Series Final Volume"); a feature film is in the works as well. The 400+ page sixth volume, rated for ages 14 and up, will be released on July 7 as a paperback with an MSRP of $19.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $27.99. Scholastic will release a Heartstopper #1-6 Box Set on August 4 with an MSRP of $95.94. House of Harkness, by Preeti Chhibber, is a magical-school story starring Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch, as she starts her first semester at House of Harkness. Wanda immediately clashes with head girl Agatha Harkness, but when the school is threatened, the two have to team up to save the day. The 144-page graphic novel, rated for ages 8-12, will be released on July 7 in two formats, a paperback with an MSRP of $14.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $25.99. Cat Loaf Adventures, Vol. 1, starts a new series for ages 8-12 that stars Cat Loaf, Rye Loaf, and Tabby Loaf, all cat-shaped loaves of bread. The style and humor appear to be similar to Pusheen and to Pandania manga. The series originally ran on Webtoon, where it had over 340,000 followers and 26.2 million views. The Scholastic edition will launch on August 4, and the first volume will be available as paperback with an MSRP of $14.99 and a jacketed hardcover with an MSRP of $25.99. Crescent Moon Marching, Vol. 1, by Hamachi Yamada, kicks off a new manga series, the story of a girl who leaves behind her high-stress life in Tokyo for a small town and finds new friends and inspiration when she joins the marching band. Like the Graphix manga Hikaru in the Light and Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms, Crescent Moon Marching was released in black and white on the Azuki (now Omoi) digital manga platform (see "Two New Titles from Graphix"); the Graphix edition will be in color. The series is rated for readers aged 9-12. (August 4; paperback $11.99, hardcover $24.99). The New Girl: First Crush is the second book in Cassandra Calin's middle-grade series; the first volume was one of the top selling kids' graphic novels of 2025 (see "Full Year Circana BookScan"). (May 5; paperback $14.99, hardcover $25.99). My Tokyo Summer, by Abby Denson and Utomaru, is a lighthearted true story about Denson's visit to Japan to meet her Japanese pen pal. While there they not only explore Tokyo but join forces to make their own comic to sell at Comiket. Denson and the Tokyo-based Utomaru are also the creators of the Kitty Sweet Tooth books. Pitched at readers 12 and up, My Tokyo Summer is pitched at readers 12 and up. (July 7; paperback $16.99, hardcover $25.99). Frostbite, by Sparks! writer Ian Boothby and Y: The Last Man artist Pia Guerra, is a YA thriller, rated for ages 12 and up, about a brother and sister who are extreme-sports social media influencers. When a ski trip goes awry, the pair find themselves surrounded by Frost Vampires and have to use their wits as well as their skills to escape. (August 4; paperback $16.99 hardcover $25.99). Scholastic launches new book fair.

Scholastic launches new book fair. By Shannon Maughan | Mar 20, 2026 photo credit: Scholastic Kids interact with a display at Scholastic's Discovery Fair. One place where kids and families can get their hands on STEAM series and activities is Scholastic's Discovery Fair, a new style of book fair for grades K-6 that "brings STEAM topics forward," according to Laura Lundgren, chief marketing officer of Scholastic Children's Book Group. The lineup is all nonfiction titles, focusing on such high-interest subjects as dinosaurs, outer space, and oceans, which are grounded in STEAM and presented in "curiosity-fueled ways," Lundgren says. "There's a lot you can see and touch at the fair, and there are lots of activity kits." Free e-newsletters. PW Daily Tip Sheet The Discovery Fair launched in January to roughly 14 markets after the team spent two years designing and workshopping the concept and running a pilot phase with schools. Reception has been very positive so far, and plans are to scale to more markets next year. In developing the fair experience, Lundgren says great effort went into "museum-ifying" the displays, so that walking through the fair feels like a visit to a science museum. As an example, kids can interact with some displays to learn more about individual books. "We wanted to encourage kids to explore the fair, and their interests, by inviting them in." A distinguishing feature of the Discovery Fair is custom video content and products created by popular YouTuber, educator, and former NASA engineer Mark Rober. "Our goal is to try to create cultural relevance and excitement, and Mark has high appeal for some of our older kids," Lundgren says. Scholastic's trade publishing division recently partnered with CrunchLabs, Rober's STEM-centric brand, to produce a line of STEM book titles across a variety of formats. First up are Extreme Engineering with Mark Rober and Lava vs. Lasers, both due out in September. Lundgren notes that the Discovery Fair offers the same fundraising and community building boosts as a traditional book fair and is just as easy for schools to host. "But we tried to distinguish this new experience so that it fueled knowledge building, curiosity, and discovery," she says. "We really want to make sure every student believes that they can be a scientist or an engineer or a mathematician, and we want them to see that interest for themselves."
