Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a discipline related to program work and seven years of related experience, including two years at a management level, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Ability to manage complex academic programs, budgets, policies, procedures, special projects, and staff supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor the work of a Senior Program Coordinator and Financial Analyst and coordinate goals and annual reviews for office staff.
  • Administer the NIH training grant, including preparing annual budgets and reports, monitoring trainee appointments and terminations, communicating with the NIH grant manager, and participating in training grant support sessions.
  • Oversee all facets of the MD/PhD program and coordinate program events, conferences, curriculum planning, student government activities, town halls, retreats, surveys, and handbook updates.
  • Prepare executive committee progress reports, agendas, and follow-up meetings; monitor student progress, annual meetings, individual development plans, coursework, grades, and required forms.
  • Represent the program at national recruitment meetings and disseminate program outcomes through publications, presentations, and posters.
  • Maintain admissions, outcomes, attrition, program-interest, and time-to-degree data and update program outcomes information on the website annually.
  • Participate in application screening and MD/PhD Admissions Committee meetings, prepare discussion materials and wrap-up presentations, and communicate recruitment outcomes.
  • Develop program content using best practices, literature reviews, and NIH/NIGMS guidelines; coordinate Journal Club and MSTP Forum activities and assist with course-related forms.
  • Assemble an annual alumni newsletter and connect current students and alumni for information interviews and industry exploration through rotations.
  • Serve as the program representative and point of contact for the Office of Medical Education and Student Affairs, School of Medicine administration, and Laney Graduate School administration.
  • Establish, monitor, and correctly spend administrative, scholarship, and NIH MSTP grant budgets, including year-end close-outs and responses to finance questions.
  • Direct the strategic planning, development, and implementation of complex programs; develop short- and long-term goals and objectives; oversee special projects; establish and administer policies and procedures; and supervise staff.
  • Represent the program in national and international settings and collaborate with representatives from other organizations.
  • Manage solicitation of funding from foundation, corporate, individual, and governmental donors when required.
