Responsibilities
  • Proctors Gas OQ evaluations per Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 49.192 (N) and GO112. Qualification evaluations will focus on a specific area of skill/knowledge including, but not limited to, leak survey and locate & mark, plastic, or measurement and regulation. Work may involve cutting, grinding, and use of hydraulic press to perform destructive testing of plastic fusion coupons.
  • Coaches the performance and administration of initial and subsequent complex and non-routine evaluations, written or computer-based qualification tests and field observations of knowledge and skills including new and/or difficult skills and techniques, working independently.
  • Coaches the preparation of employees for the entire qualification process, both written/computer testing and field observation, through effective communication and tail boarding. Ensures employees understand the purpose and process.
  • Shares outcomes, observations, trends, gaps and issues with direct supervisor, the employee’s supervisor and/or manager that contribute to the development and implementation of mitigating strategies as needed.
  • Addresses gaps and issues identified to improve evaluations, coaching tools, process, and/or materials.
  • Ensures the evaluation/qualification processes are followed and qualification records are maintained in compliance with qualification program requirements.
  • Contributes to the enhancement of new evaluation/qualification tests and processes. Collaborates with stakeholder groups to ensure appropriate process/asset recommendations are being implemented and maintained.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • AWS-American Welding Society CWI-Certified Welding Inspector certification
  • NACE-National Association of Corrosion Engineers certification
  • Utility industry experience, gas, 5 years
