DESCRIPTION:
This position will be working within Bain Capital’s Capital Markets Technology team, which supports the Fixed Income (Credit), Special Situations, Public Equity, and Partnership Strategies lines of business. The Geneva ecosystem is one of a select few strategic systems used here and its accounting and investments book of records data serves as a linchpin of the information relied upon across Portfolio Management, Finance, Operations, Investor reporting and Compliance teams. We are seeking an experienced IT Product Manager to lead the Geneva related efforts in support of delivering high-quality solutions with impact across these functions.
Leveraging both your business and technical knowledge, this individual will work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, application developers and a small Geneva team to provide solutions supporting our front-office and back-office platforms. This will include driving fund accounting and finance related projects as well as participating at various levels in other technology related initiatives, from strategic approach conception to new system development/integration, to post implementation work. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a sense of ownership, exceptional communication skills, and a deep understanding of investment management systems and processes, with a particular emphasis of the Geneva Fund Accounting ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain relationships with key business stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure software solutions align with business goals.
- Provide Vendor Management for the Geneva platform.
- Lead and manage a small team of Business Analysts responsible for requirements gathering, documentation, and testing of software solutions to support investment management operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing systems and processes, and work with the IT team to implement solutions.
- Manage and prioritize team short and long term goals and provide coaching to team members.
- Act as a subject matter expert for investment management systems and processes, providing guidance to the IT team and business stakeholders as needed.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and other IT team members to ensure software solutions meet business requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Ensure adherence to best practices for systems analysis and product management, including requirements gathering, documentation, testing, and project management.
- Stay abreast of latest developments and new features offered by the platform, and partner with key business users to decide when to upgrade or deploy enhancements.
- Work to gain an expert level understanding of integrations between Geneva and other Bain Capital systems, and assist with developing and deploying new integrations, while supporting and upgrading existing ones.
- Provide business consulting around the use of Geneva.
- Engage in complex problem solving with both business users and development resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Finance, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in business and systems analysis, preferably in a buy side asset management firm, with a strong understanding of fund accounting and investment operations.
- Experience managing third-party data providers, data vendors, and data integration. Prior experience with deploying and supporting Geneva required.
- Experience with and understanding of concepts / terminology and systems related to fixed income investments. In-depth knowledge of fixed income domain, including bonds and bank loans a plus.
- Familiarity with fund accounting processes, including NAV calculations, financial statements, reconciliation, and performance reporting.
- Strong understanding of Geneva accounting platform operations, from activity generating journal entries through Financial Statements results.
- Strong technical understanding of the Geneva platform, including accelerators, hardware navigation and basic report deployments & scheduling.
- Able to leverage accounting knowledge to write reports using Geneva report language (RSL) would be beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies and in a product management function.
- Able to lead and motivate a team, and to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Able to prioritize shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry and a dynamic organization.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Proficient with SQL for ad-hoc queries and data analysis. Exposure with BI solutions such as PowerBI to know how further information can be derived from core accounting data.
- Proficient in using business analysis tools and techniques, such as process modeling, data modeling, and requirements documentation. Some experience with SQL, Excel, Python or BI tools for this work also a plus.
- Experience in project management and managing software release cycles.
- Experience with project reporting - status, milestones, deliverables.
