Requirements
  • 10 years of experience in the operation, repair, maintenance, and assessment of U.S. Navy diesel engines, Diesel Engine Inspections, MPDE, SSDG, EDG associated support systems including lube oil, fuel oils seawater, engine jacket water, engine control systems (electronic/pneumatic) and Vibration, Performance and Failure Analysis
  • Must have recent (within 24 months) hands-on experience with the respective equipment to support
  • Must be knowledgeable in engine performance analysis, repairs, machinery vibration, and failure analysis
  • Must be knowledgeable in interpreting, reviewing, and applying engine work specifications, engine maintenance standards/practices, repair procedures, and technical documentation
  • Must have a current certification as a U.S. Navy fleet DEI, hold Navy Enlisted Classification (NEC) 4314, and have a desired minimum of 4 years of experience as a certified DEI in accordance with OPNAVIST 9220.3
  • Must have familiarity or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Service either through experience and or equivalent OEM Factory/Navy training certificates/NEC
  • Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance.
Responsibilities
  • Condition-based maintenance assessment of Diesel Engines
  • Provide Technical Assistance, assessments/inspections as required
  • Assist ship's force in troubleshooting and provide recommended corrective actions
  • Assist with equipment grooms
  • Observe/conduct cold/hot checks of equipment, note condition and parameters for any out-of-specification readings or settings
  • Conduct oversight of repairs being conducted to engines/equipment for technical completion and standards onboard ships or shipyards.
  • Provide ships-force with on-the-job training during the assessment/repairs of equipment
  • Assist with the identification of parts/materials needed to return equipment to manufacturer specifications
  • Provide written briefs and reports as required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
