Movado Group designs and distributes watches for a portfolio of owned and licensed brands. Its products are timepieces created for a range of brands it owns or licenses, with its Museum Watch design (a black dial with a single gold dot at 12) as a hallmark that reflects its design language. The company operates by designing watches and selling them through its brand network and distribution channels, including licensing agreements that extend its reach. Movado’s differentiation comes from its long heritage dating to 1881, the iconic Museum Watch design recognized for its minimalist dial and the MoMA permanent collection, and its strategy of managing a diverse mix of owned and licensed brands rather than relying on a single line. Its goal is to grow a global watch company by leveraging this iconic design heritage and a diversified brand portfolio to reach customers worldwide with high-quality timepieces.

Movado extends credit facility to 2031, cuts commitments to $75M

Movado Group has amended and extended its revolving credit facility, pushing the maturity date from October 2026 to July 2031. The watchmaker reduced total commitments from $100 million to $75 million under the agreement with Bank of America. The amendment removed a 0.10% per annum SOFR adjustment whilst increasing interest rate margins by the same amount. The facility includes a $15 million letter of credit subfacility and a $25 million swingline subfacility, with potential uncommitted increases of up to $50 million. As of 16 July, Movado had no loans drawn under the facility and approximately $299,000 in letters of credit outstanding, leaving about $74.7 million in available capacity. The changes aim to secure longer-term liquidity whilst right-sizing revolving commitments to reduce unused facility costs.

Movado Q1 revenue beats estimates at $142.4M with 5-point margin expansion

Movado reported first quarter results that beat Wall Street expectations, with revenue of $142.4 million exceeding analyst estimates of $135.1 million and representing 8.1% year-on-year growth. Operating margin expanded to 4.9%, up from 0.7% in the prior year period. CEO Efraim Grinberg attributed the performance to momentum across owned and licensed brands, strong direct-to-consumer sales, and increased retailer replenishment activity. The company is seeing improved engagement from younger consumers entering the traditional watch category. During the earnings call, analysts questioned the sustainability of gross margin expansion, with management indicating improvements will persist though not at Q1's elevated levels. Grinberg highlighted direct digital channels and wholesale business as primary margin contributors, whilst noting particular strength in innovation efforts targeting younger consumers globally. Challenges in the Middle East were offset by strength in the US and Europe.
