Requirements
  • CHLA license.
  • Graduation from an approved Health Care Aide or Personal Support Worker course or an equivalent qualification recognized by Alberta Health Services.
  • Self-directed work style.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, above-average problem-solving skills, and effective time management skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and a focus on positive working relationships with residents, families, and co-workers.
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct personal and nursing care for assigned residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse and the supervision of the Resident Care Manager, following facility policies and work routines.
  • Assist with restorative care, ambulation, feeding, bathing, and grooming.
  • Observe and report changes in residents’ physical and emotional condition as part of the nursing process.
  • Follow resident care plans and provide consistent, quality care according to the stated guidelines.
  • Assist with meal service and nourishment delivery, provide feeding assistance as required, and report and record changes in appetite or hydration.
  • Maintain records reflecting each resident’s condition, care, and specific treatments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working with seniors and/or chronic care residents in a healthcare facility.
  • For specialized units such as Alzheimer’s care, willingness to complete a specialty course.
