Requirements
  • 5 + years of bridge/structural engineering and design work experience is required
  • BS in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis
  • MS in Structural Engineering is desirable
  • PE license is preferred
  • Working knowledge of some state Bridge Design & Construction Manuals are highly desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office, industry standard bridge design and analysis software, and AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Good leadership and emotional intelligence skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
Responsibilities
  • Work will include design engineering of bridges and structures for road & highway and transit systems in MA, and the New England region.
  • Independently develops and/or supervises the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements.
  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and construction packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
  • Analyzes proposed projects to ensure structural reliability, resource efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations.
  • Perform detailed checking of design calculations performed by others.
  • Develop structural details and construction plans using Autocad or Microstation. Experience with Open Bridge Modeling is a plus.
  • Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Works closely with Engineers and other disciplines to ensure coordinated design systems.
  • May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement through innovation, creative thinking and improved results.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
