Requirements
  • The candidate must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
  • The candidate must hold Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications.
  • The candidate must hold EMR or EMT certification.
  • The candidate must have a current driver's license.
  • The candidate must have Hazmat Operations certification.
  • The candidate must pass an NFPA 1582 physical examination.
  • The candidate must pass a criminal background check and drug test.
  • The candidate must be able to operate access control systems, use a computer for incident reports, operate security software systems or applications, and use email.
  • The candidate must demonstrate experience managing multiple tasks and executing radio and telephone communications in a medium- to high-pressure environment with frequently changing or competing demands.
  • The candidate must have above-average written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to interact effectively with client staff and the public.
Responsibilities
  • Respond to fire, medical, hazardous materials, security, and threat emergencies according to applicable emergency response plans, standardized operating procedures, and medical director protocols.
  • Perform fire prevention inspections and safety training.
  • Understand and follow all standard operating procedures.
  • Follow emergency action and communication plans for emergencies.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of fire alarm, fire suppression, and security equipment, including sprinkler systems, manual and automatic alarm initiating devices, fire panels, and standpipe hoses.
  • Perform daily inspections of apparatus, security vehicles, and emergency response equipment.
  • Patrol facilities for fire or building code violations and other safety hazards and report findings to a supervisor.
  • Act as a weather spotter and monitor weather alerts through Sky Guard or other notification systems.
  • Approve and inspect hot-work, high-hazard hot-work, and confined-space permits.
  • Participate in daily emergency-response training to maintain readiness.
  • Maintain compliance with personal fire, medical, and hazardous-materials certifications as required by local mandate.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Qualifications
  • Industrial firefighter experience.
  • Hazardous Materials Technician certification.
  • National Incident Management System training in courses 100, 200, 700, and 800.
