Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience in banking or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, amortization, consolidations, and internal control best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to improve workflows, validate data, and perform detailed financial analysis with high accuracy.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing an exceptional service experience to colleagues and members through consistent demonstration of service excellence behaviors.
  • Manage end-to-end accounting operations, including accounts payable, fixed assets, lease accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, vendor maintenance, and payment processing in compliance with company policies and controls.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages, support accounts payable reporting, and continuously analyze and improve accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Update the credit union’s Accounting Procedures Manual as required or requested.
  • Support internal, external, and regulatory audits, including NCUA and CPA audits, by performing reconciliations, monitoring transactions, and contributing to the effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Provide ad hoc analyses, assist team members as needed, and perform additional duties supporting accounting and operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with accounts payable.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Experience creating and preparing financial reports.
