Position Purpose:
Home Depot has consistently grown strategic investments in Online eCommerce products and technologies to enhance interconnected customer experiences, improve operational capabilities, and grow new business verticals. Critical to our overall success is our ability to effectively staff engineering teams, deliver with efficiency through the evolution of agile processes and tools, and manage the strategic prioritization and planning of the portfolio.
The Director of Strategy, Planning, and Delivery is a pivotal role in Online Technology that partners closely with business, product, and technology stakeholders at all leadership levels to shape roadmaps, manage investments, and drive delivery accountability. The successful candidate for this role will be a visionary leader with the following demonstrated successes in their work experience:
- Establishing and driving strategic planning processes and deliverables across technology portfolios, in partnership with senior and executive leaders in Product, Finance, Enterprise Technology teams, and Business verticals.
- Developing and delivering communications and presentation materials that express the value Online provides to our business, and communicating this value back to our own teams and key stakeholders.
- Leading a Technical Project Management office and teams that drive the delivery of large cross-functional initiatives while meeting our standards for quality, timeliness, security, and reliability.
- Actively managing portfolio-level financials and budgeting in concert with Finance and Product.
- Partnering with key business stakeholders to identify and implement improvements in our agile delivery processes and ways of working.
- Recruiting and motivating a highly performant Technical Program Managers, leaders, and supporting staff. This includes the evolution of the TPM organization and job family to better meet the requirements of agile, cross-functional, end-to-end balanced teams comprised of Product, UX, Data Science, Engineering, and TPM resources.
- Assists all teams in the portfolio with recruiting and staffing of teams, alignment of roles and responsibilities, and the identification, gap analysis and resolution of delivery issues within cross-functional teams.
As the Director of Strategy, Planning, and Delivery, you’ll actively collaborate with stakeholders in Technology and across all levels of the enterprise to create and manage Online Technology’s operating plan, from strategy, to finances, to delivery. You’ll be deeply involved in defining and communicating our product direction and ensuring that we’re partnering effectively, both internally and with our stakeholders, to achieve our goals. You’ll help ensure that the organization is delivering on our commitments at all levels, and will guide decision making related to spending and scaling on our teams.

Key Responsibilities:
40% Strategy & Planning:
- Partners with functional and technical leaders to identify and plan capabilities necessary to meet short and long-term business needs
- Develops and executes strategic plans in support of key objectives in a timely and fiscally responsible manner
- Informs and drives strategic alignment and partnerships with functional and technical peers and leaders
- Connects the dots across multiple levels and related functions to understand the business holistically
- Evaluates research and market analysis, meets with third party vendors, and maintains knowledge of industry innovations and technology platforms to inform strategy
- Establishes and nurtures strategic vendor relationships; influences vendors to align to domain, portfolio, and enterprise strategic objectives
- Drives growth for the business by applying technical and domain expertise to provide thought leadership and translate vision into action
40% Delivery & Execution:
- Defines and communicates value propositions, success metrics, and outcomes

Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel 10% to 25% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
- Once per quarter, all THD associates work in a local store for one day.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
