Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and employee relations experience.
  • At least 5 years of human resources experience, including at least 3 years of employee relations experience.
  • Excellent organizational, investigative, and conflict management and resolution skills.
  • Strong strategic, organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and acumen.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct investigations into employee relations concerns, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, workplace violence, and other violations of rules, regulations, policies, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with leaders and employees to resolve complex employee relations issues and work toward effective resolutions.
  • Lead and assist with employee relations investigations and escalated issues, reorganizations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and complex unemployment issues.
  • Communicate regularly about pending investigations and provide timely investigation reports with supporting documentation for completed investigations.
  • Provide client-group support using expertise in training, leadership development, leave management, unemployment, and benefits.
  • Manage the employee relations caseload through submission and use of the case management tool to actively manage open cases.
  • Manage assigned employee relations compliance functions, including policy management, training, and trend monitoring.
  • Manage employee relations compliance processes, including employment processes and harassment and discrimination training.
  • Ensure uniform and equitable application of organizational policies and practices.
  • Provide coaching and training to leaders and employees on relevant topics.
  • Develop relationships with People & Talent human resources business partners to promote positive employee relations across the university and support employee satisfaction and engagement.
  • Analyze and interpret employee relations data and trends and provide reports to business partners, the Office of General Counsel, and business leaders to support future actions.
  • Maintain an individual professional development plan to keep current knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Provide advice and counsel to leaders and employees on employee relations people practices.
  • Influence employee relations decisions while balancing business needs and risk.
  • Respond to and support the Office of General Counsel with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Department of Labor claims in collaboration with the legal team.
Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with employment laws and regulations from multiple states.
  • Experience conducting employee relations work for a national organization with a distributed workforce.
  • Formalized training and instruction in Title IX, Title VII, and conducting investigations.
  • Experience with alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence tools.
  • A bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field.
