Requirements
  • At least 5 years of human interaction design experience, or a proven track record leading complex, high-impact projects demonstrating senior-level readiness.
  • Expert proficiency in the latest design prototyping tools.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong human interaction design, clear logic, and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative signals to inform design decisions.
  • Strong ability to communicate the rationale behind design choices to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
  • Focus on defining and scaling human interaction design at The Post while maintaining journalistic standards.
  • Develop interfaces and features for discovering and consuming journalism across digital products, including the website, native iOS and Android apps, paywall, and account management experiences.
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, reporters, and editors to make journalism more accessible, personalized, and essential to users.
  • Explore and define UI patterns and interaction models across core experiences using design prototyping tools.
  • Develop high-fidelity prototypes to test functionality and gauge user sentiment.
  • Create user-centered flows for navigating editorially curated and personalized experiences transparently and confidently.
  • Partner with product, engineering, and newsroom stakeholders to ensure work meets technical and journalistic standards.
  • Partner with research and analytics teams to identify user behaviors that can be addressed through design.
  • Maintain a high standard for visual and interaction design across all platforms.
  • Collaborate with the design team to establish style guides, standards, and design systems.
  • Manage work throughout the design process, including research, concepting, user flows, prototyping, and implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve products and processes using design experience, best practices, and user insights.
  • Apply empathy, logic, and data to create experiences that meet readers’ needs.
