Requirements
  • Extensive Marine & Energy Liability underwriting expertise
  • Experience of working for a Lloyd’s Syndicate or London market insurance company
  • Previous underwriting within an international Marine & Energy Liability book
  • Experience of operating as part of a leading Underwriter team
  • Excellent technical knowledge of underwriter assessment, wording and rating requirements
  • Established relationships with London market and overseas brokers
  • Strong broker and client-facing experience and ability
Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and manage a portfolio of marine and energy liability risks according to Markel’s underwriting principles and in line with authority limits
  • Manage your own book of business in line with appetite and strategy, including combined ratio targets
  • Understand and promote collaborative interaction with claims and other internal functions to develop policy wordings and coverage
  • Analyse and interpret data to enhance Markel’s underwriting capabilities
  • Develop strong relationships with new and existing brokers and clients
