Requirements
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • At least one year of welding experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of an internal welding test is required.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance, is required.
  • Knowledge of basic math skills is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is required.
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and vendors is required.
  • The employee must be dependable.
  • The role requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, push and pull up to 50 pounds, bend and stoop, and maintain the required vision abilities.
  • The role requires working around loud noise, moving machinery parts, airborne particles, welding fumes, and temperatures between 60 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Responsibilities
  • Lift work pieces manually or with a hoist and secure them in fixtures or load an automatic feeding device.
  • Calculate and set machine controls for wire feed speed, amperage, polarity, gas type, and weld-rod type.
  • Start the machine, engage the feed, and observe its operation.
  • Inspect and measure machined work pieces to verify conformance with specifications.
  • Adjust machine controls and guides.
  • Unload welded frames from robotic welders and place them in appropriate containers.
  • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, or bolt component parts into the required welding configurations and positions.
  • Remove rough spots from work pieces with portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
  • Remove excess weld, slag, or spatter with hand scrapers, power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Replace worn machine accessories such as cutting tools or brushes.
  • File, sand, or shape machined parts.
  • Maintain accurate part counts and label finished-part containers with customer, part number, quantity, and shop-order information.
  • Perform basic metal inert gas (MIG) and tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding techniques as needed.
  • Maintain company quality, efficiency, and productivity standards.
  • Read job specifications, including blueprints, quality control plans, and traveler notes, to determine welding and material requirements.
  • Use equipment and supplies in accordance with operational standards.
  • Examine finished work pieces using gauges and operator inspection sheets, quality control plans, or customer notes.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Robotic Welding Manager.
  • Perform prescribed preventive maintenance on equipment and machines.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment while following safety regulations.
  • Perform related duties or work at different workstations as production needs require.

  • FANUC robotic certification is desired.
  • A certificate or degree in welding is preferred.
