Requirements
  • Ph.D., M.S., or B.S. in statistics, biostatistics, data science, healthcare economics, epidemiology, applied mathematics, or a related field
  • At least 1+ years of work experience as a Data Scientist for PhDs, 3+ years of experience for M.S. degree holders, and 5+ years of experience for B.S. degree holders
  • Strong background in Python, R and SQL programming
  • Strong understanding of and experience working with real world medical data and claims data, e.g. ICD codes, CPT codes, CMS-HCC model, comorbidity coding
  • Experience with fundamental data science models, including Generalized Linear Models (GLM), Mixed Models and analysis of longitudinal data
  • Experience developing code that is leveraged by a wider team and/or contributing to a collaborative code base
  • Strong communicator with excellent ability to work in a team environment
  • Previous experience working in consulting and/or fast-paced client-facing environments is preferred
  • Eager to learn new techniques and work at the intersection of healthcare analytics and a wide range of data science problems
Responsibilities
  • Leverage a variety of healthcare data, including provider profile data and longitudinal claims data to quantify the relationship between healthcare quality and patient outcomes (e.g. cost, clinical outcomes and care patterns)
  • Conduct analyses in a fast-paced environment to support Covera Health leadership's ad-hoc requests to support business strategy and uncover business and clinical insights
  • Collaborate with data science team members and other Covera colleagues on data analysis projects and research activities
  • Communicate the results of analysis and research projects to internal and external stakeholders
  • Apply models and methods developed by the data science teams, including the causal inference team, to quantify program savings
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with or eagerness to learn causal inference and related statistical methodologies, such as propensity score matching and difference in differences, is a plus
