Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Proficiency in Python coding and programming concepts
  • Strong knowledge and experience using relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Knowledge of common data analysis, inference, and statistical modeling tools
  • Superb analytical and problem solving skills, and an ability to deeply understand the "why" and "how" of what we are working on
  • Ability to develop insightful visualizations to communicate data with stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Planning and organizational abilities
  • 1+ years in a Data Science role
  • Experience in a relevant industry showing a track record of research, and analysis
  • Experience setting up ETL pipelines and leveraging big data engines (e.g. Spark)
  • Ability to be a leader and mentor and commitment to learning; someone who seeks to deliver impact, but also invests in themselves and others
  • Experience with geospatial data analysis, tools, and visualization
Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, and data scientists to define the direction of Auroras autonomy development, focused on navigating areas where reality differs from the map, such as in construction zones
  • Get to know the inner workings of Auroras autonomous vehicles. Using this knowledge you will:Analyze data to garner insights into current vehicle functioning and the nature of current and future operational domainsDefine metrics that will give leadership and developers insight into vehicle performance and progress towards company goals. Build models to predict vehicle performance in current and future operational domains
  • Present insights to management, engineers, and fellow data scientists
  • Automate critical data collection and analysis tasks to support continued business decisions
  • Research new algorithms and workflows and implement them as needed to reach company goals
