Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.
  • At least 6 years of progressive water/wastewater design experience.
  • A California Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring staff.
  • A valid driver’s license and a driving record with 3 or fewer demerit points.
  • Strong technical experience in water and wastewater design and construction management, with the ability to serve in a responsible charge capacity for water and wastewater projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present technical information in public forums and communicate interpersonally with team members and colleagues.
  • Creativity, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage and oversee several tasks or projects concurrently.
  • Business acumen to maintain project budgets and develop new and repeat business with existing and new clients.
  • Vision to help grow and direct the water/wastewater technical focus group in coordination with the Group Manager and the company’s strategic plan and goals.
Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, oversee, and direct the project design team during project execution while serving in responsible charge.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and delegated responsibility to staff.
  • Provide technical quality assurance and quality control review of projects.
  • Lead the development of engineering drawings using computer-aided design and Civil 3D software according to industry standards and state or federal construction policies.
  • Conduct research as needed.
  • Prepare or guide the preparation of due diligence and site analysis reports, engineers’ opinions of probable construction costs, utility infrastructure designs and computations, technical reports, and general civil designs for Project Manager review.
  • Serve as the engineer in responsible charge for final civil design drawings and may stamp project deliverables, including plans, specifications, reports, and calculations.
  • Lead field and construction site visits and assist with construction activities, including verifying quantities, preparing field reports, and processing pay applications.
  • Prepare or guide computer modeling for analysis of water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
  • Prepare or guide reports based on modeling in coordination with the team.
  • Work independently for a significant amount of time while coordinating with the Project Manager.
  • Support client engagement and business development activities.
  • Help shape the technical direction of the water/wastewater practice.
