Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, or a related field is required.
  • At least 4 years of experience in communications, technical writing, or editing is required.
  • Experience writing and editing reports, newsletters, briefings, fact sheets, training materials, user manuals, and guidebooks is required.
  • Experience with computer-based systems and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent writing and editing assignments is required.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, write, and edit content for internal and external audiences to keep leadership and stakeholders informed of program developments, initiatives, and updates.
  • Draft executive correspondence, briefings, talking points, and scripts for leadership.
  • Develop communication plans and strategies supporting program milestones, events, and cross-team initiatives.
  • Research, write, and edit newsletters, fact sheets, frequently asked questions, reports, and web content.
  • Ensure content aligns with VA documentation standards, plain language requirements, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Gather, analyze, and compose technical information for user manuals, training materials, installation and administrator guides, proposals, reports, and other program deliverables.
  • Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, standard operating procedures, and other technical documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Translate complex technical and clinical information into clear, readable content for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, or other federal health agencies.
  • Experience translating complex technical, clinical, or regulatory information into clear, plain-language content for technical or clinical and non-technical or non-clinical audiences.
  • Familiarity with VA documentation, branding, plain language, and Section 508 accessibility standards.
