Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience and education is required.
  • Five years of technical experience in a laboratory setting, including two years of concurrent supervisory experience, is required.
  • One of the listed laboratory professional licenses or certifications is required, including applicable Blood Bank Technologist, Chemistry Technologist, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, Clinical Laboratory Technician, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technologist, or other accepted state or American Society for Clinical Pathology credentials.
  • The ability to perform frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, repetitive movements, visual tasks, hearing and speech tasks, and keyboard or data-entry work is required.
  • The ability to perform occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and lifting or moving objects weighing 25–50 pounds is required.
  • The ability to climb occasionally is required.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize the daily workflow by coordinating and delegating daily technical operations.
  • Manage or work directly on projects of moderate to complex scope.
  • Select, schedule, and assign staff, adjusting hours and shifts as necessary.
  • Evaluate activities of assigned areas to ensure patient care, staff relations, and service efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and quality control standards required by laboratory regulatory agencies.
  • Make recommendations regarding the development of policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Implement unit or clinic policies, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor department financial performance.
  • Function in the Laboratory Director capacity during the absence of the Laboratory Director, as needed.
  • Act as the laboratory liaison to other departments.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
