The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Program Director, Advanced Education In Orthodontics and Professor in Residence, School of Dental Medicine [R0145674].

ROLE of the POSITION

The Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics is a CODA-accredited postdoctoral education program that awards a Certificate of Specialization in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in conjunction with either a MS or PhD in Oral Biology. The Program Director is responsible for overall broad oversight of the program including the curriculum and its development, implementation, clinical operations, monitoring, assessment, reporting and evaluation in accordance with the Commission on Dental Accreditation. The Program Director is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all UNLV School of Dental Medicine quality assurance measures and protocols, eHR (AxiUm) records audits, and coordinating similar compliance measures associated with affiliate, external rotation locations. The Program Director is responsible for the admissions processes, review and selection of residents (advanced education students) following all NSHE, UNLV, School of Dental Medicine measures, in coordination with the Associate Dean for Advanced Education. The Program Director ensures residents comply with all previously mentioned protocols, quality assurance, and professional standards set forth within NSHE, UNLV, and School of Dental Medicine. The position provides the administrative association and link between the predoctoral and advanced education program. The position serves as a role model and contributes to a professional work environment, contributing to the values for an inclusive, and diverse resident, staff, and faculty population. As UNLV is a Carnegie Tier 1 university an expectation for this position is to participate in research activities in a meaningful way that results in grants and research funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must hold a DMD or DDS from an accredited college or university, be board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, Masters Degree or PhD in a basic or clinical science and be eligible for licensure/limited licensure in Nevada. Candidate must have a broad knowledge of curriculum development and management in orthodontic education and be aware of contemporary content, teaching methods and strategies. The ability to communicate effectively to a diverse spectrum of people is also essential. Documented scholarly accomplishments including publications and grantsmanship are desirable. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Three years’ experience in post-doctoral orthodontics education. Doctorate degree in a basic science
