Requirements
  • Current hospital experience within the past five years, or new graduate status within the last two years.
  • Completion of Point of Care Testing training as part of department orientation.
  • Knowledge of the nursing process and its application, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Current Registered Nurse credential.
  • Basic Life Support certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • NIH Stroke Certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, or the ability to obtain it within six months.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
  • Safely identify, label, prepare, dispense, and administer medications and solutions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
  • Insert, maintain, and monitor intravenous lines.
  • Use the nursing process throughout the perioperative and post-anesthesia setting.
  • Collect, interpret, document, and communicate patient data related to surgical and recovery care.
  • Develop individualized perioperative and postoperative nursing care plans using assessment data.
  • Provide direct patient care addressing physical and psychological needs during recovery from anesthesia.
  • Continuously evaluate patient responses to interventions and modify the plan of care to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Perform comprehensive airway assessments and interventions, including oxygen therapy, ventilator management, and assistance with intubation and extubation.
  • Manage patients requiring advanced airway and respiratory support.
  • Use Philips cardiac monitoring systems to assess and monitor cardiac status.
  • Set up, monitor, and manage invasive hemodynamic lines, including arterial lines, central venous pressure lines, cardiac output monitoring systems, and Swan-Ganz catheters.
  • Assess, implement, monitor, and evaluate pain-management interventions using established protocols and communicate patient responses.
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to surgical patients recovering from anesthesia and sedation.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams to support patient outcomes.
  • Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity while maintaining compliance with professional nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least one year of recent Post-Anesthesia Care Unit or Critical Care experience.
  • Emergency Department and/or Critical Care experience.
