Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required
  • 4-6 years of experience in applications support or production environment required
  • 6-12 years in production support (L2) for both mainframe and Java technologies
  • Proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM
  • Proficiency in Java, RESTful Web Services, SQL, and Unix/Linux environments
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics), ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow), and version control (e.g., Git/Windsurf)
  • Ability to support production applications in a 24x7/always-on environment with on-call rotation
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills in high-pressure environments
  • AI prompting and practical use of AI tools to improve development productivity, problem-solving, and support workflows
  • Soft skills: clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Responsibilities
  • Support production applications in a 24x7/always-on environment, including on-call rotation support
  • Troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis across application, operating system, and infrastructure layers to drive complex incidents to resolution
  • Monitor, alert, and observe metrics, logs, and traces; define SLIs/SLOs and tune alerts to reduce noise
  • Engage in problem management including post-incident reviews, corrective/preventive actions, and tracking issues to closure
  • Involve release and change management activities including production readiness reviews, deployment validation, rollback planning, and change controls/programmable PTO
  • Manage capacity and performance; identify bottlenecks, forecast demand, and recommend scaling improvements
  • Partner with development, QA, operations, and infrastructure teams; communicate with stakeholders clearly
  • Create runbooks, operating procedures, architectural diagrams, and design specifications
