Requirements

Responsibilities
  • Develop manufacturing process solutions - that will involve both software, documentation, and floor operations
  • Be responsible for essential manufacturing engineering tools
  • Contribute to the improvement of PLM, ERP, MES systems
  • Assist in manufacturing engineering for new product introduction and how to scale manufacturing processes
  • Quickly troubleshoot and resolve electrical or systems issues which may arise during manufacturing
  • Quickly prototype, troubleshoot, and iterate designs for electrical test fixtures and automated testing equipment - collaborating w/ engineering
  • Drive decisions through project planning, task delegation and leading problem solving efforts to reiterate quickly

Carbon Robotics is using AI and NVIDIA technology to eliminate pesticides in US agriculture. The company's LaserWeeder machines use 24 NVIDIA GPUs to analyse thousands of plant images per second, targeting weeds' growth centres with lasers to prevent regrowth without chemical herbicides. The technology addresses findings from the Environmental Working Group's 2026 guide, which showed 96% of "Dirty Dozen" fruits and vegetables tested positive for pesticides, with spinach topping the list. Carbon Robotics' approach doesn't disrupt soil like mechanical weeding and eliminates chemical runoff into waterways. The company's autonomous tractor attachment, Carbon ATK, uses NVIDIA Jetson Orin processors. Carbon Robotics was founded by Paul Mikesell, former Uber executive and co-founder of Isilon Systems, which was acquired by EMC for $2.5 billion in 2010.

Carbon Robotics' AI model learns to identify weeds instantly without retraining

Carbon Robotics has launched a Large Plant Model, an AI system that instantly recognises plant species and enables farmers to target new weeds without retraining their LaserWeeder robots. The Seattle-based company announced the model on Monday. The LPM is trained on over 150 million photos collected from more than 100 farms across 15 countries where Carbon Robotics' autonomous weed-killing machines operate. Previously, identifying new weeds required 24 hours of retraining; now farmers can designate targets in real time through the robot's interface. Founded in 2018, Carbon Robotics has raised over $185 million from backers including Nvidia NVentures, Bond and Anthos Capital. The model will reach existing systems through a software update, with continuous refinement as machines collect additional data.
