IndieSemiC and Semtech unveil 64-bit LoRa chip platform. IndieSemiC has collaborated with Semtech to develop a next-generation semiconductor platform for smart connected devices. July 30, 2026 IndieSemiC, an Indian fabless semiconductor company specializing in homegrown chip design, has partnered with Semtech Corporation to incorporate LoRa technology into its upcoming Sabarmati-1 System-in-Package (SiP) platform. The collaboration, announced in the presence of India's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), is intended to create what the companies describe as the world's first 64-bit LoRa-enabled SiP. The platform is designed to support low-power, long-range wireless connectivity for applications such as the IoT, smart metering, and smart city infrastructure. The Sabarmati family is being developed as a 64-bit, general-purpose SiP platform based on the VEGA RISC-V architecture, with Semtech's LoRa technology integrated at the system-in-package level. The design combines 64-bit processing with ultra-low-power, long-range wireless connectivity, bringing IndieSemiC's semiconductor design capabilities together with Semtech's globally adopted LoRa technology in a single integrated package. The platform is being designed to support a broad range of IoT use cases: industrial automation, smart cities, asset tracking, smart lighting, smart metering, agriculture, logistics, and healthcare - addressing the growing demand for intelligent, connected systems built on low-power wide-area networking (LPWAN). Commenting on the collaboration, Nikul Shah, Founder and CEO of IndieSemiC, said, "The future of IoT will not be defined by connectivity or compute in isolation - it will be shaped by how intelligently the two are integrated. Semtech Corporation has secured an incremental loan facility and revolver increase capped at the greater of $332 million or 100% of its consolidated EBITDA, according to an SEC filing. The move aims to provide additional financial flexibility for operations, strategic initiatives, and potential acquisitions. The announcement follows strong recent financial performance. Semtech reported record first-quarter fiscal 2027 net sales of $291.0 million, up 6% sequentially and 16% year-over-year. Non-GAAP adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 34% year-over-year. The company operates in data centre networking and IoT connectivity solutions. Its recent inclusion in the Artisan Mid Cap Fund's portfolio reflects investor confidence, with the fund highlighting Semtech's role in addressing AI-driven bandwidth demand.
Low-power long-distance image transmission A new breakthrough in the visual nerve of the Internet of Things. Even at an ultra-long distance of 10 kilometers, it can still maintain a stable communication bandwidth. In the field of low-power wide-area networks, LitePoint, in collaboration with Semtech, has launched the fourth-generation LoRa module, which has also broken the stereotype that LoRa was only suitable for low-speed data transmission. It achieves a maximum rate of 2.6 Mbps, which is sufficient to handle demanding IoT applications such as real-time image transmission. The value of low-power long-distance image transmission has been fully verified in specific scenarios. In smart fire protection and forest fire prevention scenarios, ultra-long-distance wireless image transmission makes it possible to conduct large-scale high-definition video surveillance and unmanned area monitoring; in geographic mapping and agricultural pest control fields, the image transmission solution helps operators obtain high-definition images without having to be on-site; in industrial endoscopy fields, the MR300C module connects the camera through the USB interface, encodes the video data into HTTP protocol streams, and users can view the images in real time through a browser, greatly simplifying the deployment process.
