Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least four years of manufacturing experience are required.
- Mechanical ability is required.
- Strong communication skills are required.
- Knowledge of inspection tools, measuring devices, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods is required.
- Knowledge of basic welding is required; the ability to inspect and test welds is a plus.
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, problem-solving methods and tools is required.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft applications and Excel is required.
- The ability to travel to other Gorbel sites, less than 10% of the time, is required.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and test incoming material, work in process, and final assemblies using defined procedures, lead follow-through actions, and document inspection results in computer- or paper-based records.
- Participate in reviews of new measurement techniques and learn to use and apply them.
- Make material transactions as needed by moving accepted parts into inventory, moving unacceptable parts to quarantine, and updating computer records.
- Follow nonconformance procedures to visually identify, communicate, and quarantine material.
- Participate in or provide input to the Material Review Board for proper disposition of material and update computer records for analysis.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure products and processes comply with Gorbel specifications.
- Interface with other departments to resolve issues and drive action for nonconforming issues, scrap, and rework with appropriate owners.
- Maintain inspection records and prepare defect lists for analysis.
- Develop and participate in defining quality standards, including visual standards for welding and painting and functional tests for electrical or mechanical systems.
- Complete weld destructive and nondestructive tests as defined, help develop tests when needed, and document them.
- Complete functional testing to check fitness for use or audit functional test results to ensure continued compliance.
- Communicate inspection results and inventory issues to required individuals.
- Maintain testing equipment and calibrate equipment at the defined frequency to ensure accuracy.
- Participate in and contribute to problem-solving and continuous-improvement teams.
- Assist other departments as required.
Desired Qualifications
- The ability to perform basic graphs and analysis of data is desired.
- An Associate of Applied Science degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of paint and associated processes, including the ability to inspect and analyze related problems, is preferred.
- Knowledge of the functioning of electrical and electromechanical systems, including the ability to understand functional tests and analyze related problems, is preferred.
