Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience as a diesel, heavy-duty, or refuse truck mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems used in refuse trucks.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty truck systems with minimal supervision.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required; a commercial driver's license is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in outdoor environments year-round.
  • Own tools are required; the company provides specialized tools and a service truck.
Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on refuse collection vehicles at customer sites.
  • Service hydraulic systems, electrical systems, compaction equipment, and lifting arms.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements.
  • Operate a service truck equipped with tools and parts to complete field repairs.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and service recommendations.
  • Communicate with customers to explain issues, timelines, and solutions.
  • Follow safety standards when working on heavy equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • Field or mobile mechanic experience.
  • Familiarity with McNeilus, Heil, Labrie, or similar refuse bodies.
  • Commercial driver's license.
