About the Position
We are looking for an experienced manager to join our Partnership Accounting team to oversee the accounting for our members’ capital and related accounts.
In this role, you’ll work with a close-knit and collaborative group to oversee the accounting for our members’ capital and related accounts. Getting the details right on our team is extremely important, and we take pride in our ability to stay on schedule without sacrificing accuracy or quality.
This role provides a great introduction to Jane Street’s accounting function and an opportunity to collaborate closely with our global Legal and Tax teams, among others. You’ll also help manage projects related to restructuring, organization, legal, and tax and will be involved in the implementation of various systems and technology to support our workflows.
At Jane Street, we always look for the best solutions to complex problems, and that extends to our accounting function. You’ll work alongside our accounting-specific technology team to help support projects and build tools that make our work stronger and our processes more efficient.
Additional responsibilities of the role will include:
- Managing team members and reviewing and approving their journal entries and reconciliations
- Developing, training, and mentoring our current team of two using your deep knowledge of the partnership accounting space
- Reviewing distributable income and quarterly statements
- Overseeing the preparation of member draws and distributions, and reviewing the accounting for all partner-related activity
- Reviewing and reconciling monthly charges to specific member general ledger accounts, including tax withholdings
- Managing the coordination of all investment documentation, and tracking investment data and performance
- Partnering with our Tax and Legal teams on projects that impact partner allocations
- Standardizing processes and automating monthly income and capital allocations
- Documenting processes and driving improvements and efficiencies by partnering with other teams to establish best practices for partnership accounting
We execute at a high level and you will have room to continue to grow your accounting and technical skills, try new things, demonstrate your leadership skills and think critically about ways to improve current processes. Your ideas and solutions will make the team stronger and prepare us for our next phase of growth.
