Requirements
  • The candidate must have a high school diploma, be currently enrolled in high school, or have a General Educational Development (GED) credential.
  • The candidate must be registered with the State of Vermont as a pharmacy technician.
  • The candidate must pass a drug test.
  • The candidate must meet initial and continuous exclusion and sanction or disciplinary monitoring requirements.
  • The candidate must meet any additional eligibility requirements associated with the specific position.
Responsibilities
  • Work under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and follow standard procedures to complete assigned tasks.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy department.
  • Assist the supervising pharmacist with staff training and development, assign tasks to balance and complete the workload, and ensure consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Assist professional staff with triaging, processing, and delivering prescriptions to patients.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory and third-party receivables management.
  • Assist in hiring and training new employees.
  • Answer telephones.
  • Perform product dispensing, data entry, and adjudication workflow steps using pharmacy technology.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering and receiving, inventory freshness, return-to-stock processes, and cycle counting.
  • Follow state and federal regulations and company operational policies and procedures.
  • Learn and use the pharmacy management system, including reception and release-to-patient queues, and the point-of-sale system.
  • Follow instructions, complete tasks with urgency, and maintain daily department standards.
  • Apply quality assurance policies and procedures, patient care programs and initiatives, and cash-control procedures accurately.
  • Ensure every prescription is checked by a pharmacist before dispensing it to the patient.
  • Assist with initial submission and required resubmission of third-party claims.
  • Locate prescription files and other manual records from storage as needed.
  • Prepare and file manual records for pharmacist signatures and review.
  • Assist with and oversee all aspects of pharmacy workflow from data entry through customer pickup.
  • Ensure pharmacy staff provide quality customer service.
  • Stay current with state and federal requirements and corporate goals and initiatives.
  • Complete all mandatory and regulatory training programs.
  • Assist the supervising pharmacist with monitoring and reporting quality assurance events.
  • Assist with pharmacy inventory tasks, including returns, outdates, and transmitting and receiving supplier orders.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate degree or higher is preferred.
  • Hospital or retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
