Requirements
  • A journeyperson’s ticket, or an Engineering Degree in a related subject area such as Mechanical, Mining, or Processing, or a combination of relevant education and experience in mining or heavy industry.
  • Seven years of experience in planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work.
  • Proficiency with systems and technology.
  • Strong understanding and skills in computerized maintenance management systems.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.
  • Successful candidates must satisfy pre-employment requirements, including a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Administer and coordinate a large volume of maintenance work requests and work orders within SAP S/4HANA.
  • Submit maintenance requests on behalf of contractors.
  • Screen new maintenance requests daily.
  • Prioritize requests as emergency, minor, or standard and ensure traceability and control.
  • Ensure maintenance requests include accurate functional locations or equipment numbers, detailed work scope descriptions, required labour estimates, and materials.
  • Lead daily work control meetings with supervisors, planners, and operations.
  • Act as the main point of communication between maintenance supervisors, trades, operations, and reliability and planning teams.
  • Verify that permits, isolations, and required safety requirements are identified and communicated to supervisors.
  • Ensure the correct parts, materials, and tools are sourced and delivered to support timely repairs.
  • Approve materials within defined permissions and support cost control.
  • Coordinate the assignment of appropriate tradespeople and contractors.
  • Secure mobile equipment or plant downtime windows needed to complete the work.
  • Assess the production impact of equipment downtime and prioritize work accordingly.
  • Facilitate collaboration across multiple operational areas to enable smooth execution.
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure reactive maintenance activities are completed safely, effectively, and on schedule.
  • Work with trades, operations, and contractors to confirm complete job scopes, resource requirements, and parts needs.
  • Ensure safety requirements, tools, and procedures are incorporated into work plans.
  • Collaborate with planners and schedulers to prioritize work and align activities with equipment availability and production needs.
  • Coordinate with the materials coordinator to secure tools and materials and ensure they are properly staged before execution.
  • Monitor equipment availability and assist with warranty and returns processes.
  • Review daily and weekly schedules with supervisors and schedulers.
  • Conduct final work order reviews to verify proper completion, including labour hours, parts usage, failure coding, and accurate trade notes.
  • Support equipment reliability and maintenance performance reporting.
  • Review bills of materials associated with equipment in SAP.
  • Escalate delays or issues affecting major maintenance events, production, or other priorities when needed.
  • Support the preparation, planning, and execution of major maintenance events such as shutdowns.
