Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of security and safety experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Fluent English-speaking ability; other languages are preferred.
  • Ability to carry, lift, push, and/or pull items weighing up to 50–100 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently stand and move about the facility.
  • Ability to frequently handle objects and equipment used to secure the facility.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Safety and training certification and/or a Security Officer or Law Enforcement Officer license may be required.
  • Working knowledge of local laws, investigation methods, Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements, fire codes, and life-safety codes.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities for emergency situations.
  • Reading and writing abilities sufficient to document tasks, order supplies, receive daily instructions, and read safety and security procedures.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
Responsibilities
  • Record pertinent incident reports and information for police and fire agencies, corporate legal and claims departments, insurance agencies, and outside attorneys.
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with hotel staff and corporate departments.
  • Assist in training and educating employees on current safety and security issues and company loss-control policies.
  • Inform management of hazardous situations, emergencies, or threats to guests, employees, or hotel assets.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs for security equipment or hotel property and ensure equipment is operational for the following day.
  • Respond courteously and promptly to guest incidents, questions, complaints, and requests.
  • Investigate theft, lost-item, noise, safety-hazard, and other loss or safety incidents involving guests, employees, or hotel property.
  • Administer CPR to guests or staff members in accordance with guidelines when required and communicate specified information to emergency medical personnel.
  • Complete documented reports in accordance with company and hotel policies and procedures.
  • Inspect the hotel daily and ensure compliance with security and safety requirements and procedures.
  • Patrol and inspect public areas, meeting rooms, entrances, exterior building areas, and grounds using specified equipment.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras, check for unauthorized persons or vehicles, coordinate vehicle towing, unlock doors, identify fire and safety hazards, and document actions.
  • Maintain security procedures and departmental audit logs, including lost and found, guest valuables, key control, emergency procedures, and health and safety hazard procedures.
  • Ensure guest room doors are secured and assist guests with room access and with moving or removing possessions or inventory when required.
  • Escort staff and guests to their cars when requested.
  • Inspect employee purses, packages, bags, work identification, and time-card accuracy when designated by management.
  • Handle deliveries received during non-business hours and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certified CPR or First Aid instructor credentials.
  • Training in law-enforcement techniques.
