Responsibilities
  • Deliver consistent guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience.
  • Ensure every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers Target’s guest experience commitments and operational standards.
  • Observe team performance, provide feedback, hold team members accountable, and recognize strong guest experience.
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take corrective action, align the team on execution, celebrate wins, and drive results.
  • Lead daily and weekly workload execution for receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting and updating sales-floor displays, sampling, restocking shelves, organizing backrooms, and price changes for General Merchandise areas.
  • Educate team members on operational procedures, product accuracy, stock levels, sales-floor maintenance, inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Assess reporting to identify General Merchandise process gaps and help develop plans for the direct leader’s review and approval.
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns.
  • Help establish goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to them.
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work accurately when applicable, assess fulfillment reporting, and help develop plans to address gaps.
  • Ensure products are in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience.
  • Collaborate with store teams and leaders to identify priorities and keep the store guest-ready.
  • Relay relevant Target communications, trends, and product information to team members during team connection moments.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team through onboarding, learning, coaching, and team interactions.
  • Identify team members for future leadership positions and build a departmental talent pool through growth and development.
  • Support guest services, including backup cashier and digital fulfillment processes, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches and creating equitable experiences.
  • Follow Target policies, safety procedures, food-safety and pricing guidelines, and report and correct hazards.
  • Lead safety culture by modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, correcting hazards, holding the team accountable to safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting and investigating injuries.
  • Model physical security processes to enhance in-store security culture.
  • Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage, and application according to best practices.
  • Follow safe and secure training and processes as a key carrier when applicable.
  • Occasionally assume store-level leader-on-duty responsibilities during assigned shifts.
  • Address store emergency and compliance needs.
  • Perform other duties based on business needs.
