  • Experience with 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., NX or SolidWorks).
Responsibilities
  • Drive end-to-end discussions on system assembly process down-selection, prototyping, equipment and tooling needs for high precision assembly meeting mechanical, optical and reliability requirements.
  • Lead development and architecture efforts for miniaturization of novel opto-mechanical subsystems, working with other system and cross-functional leads to arrive at reusable designs optimized for consumer usage.
  • Work to drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) efforts from early New Technology Introduction (NTI) to prototype to mass production, working closely with internal and external partners and contract manufacturers.
  • Own and develop comprehensive requirements documents and tolerance stackup analyses to ensure performance and reliability of opto-mechanical systems through the conditions expected by mass production consumer hardware.
  • Establish mechanical and optical datuming and metrology strategies, using these strategies to devise reliable fixtures, measurement capabilities, and validation approaches.
  • As a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer, you will lead optical-display module system design and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews of display systems integration, such as high precision alignment approaches, product interface features for integration process, and critical product interface that drives integration performance.
  • You will serve as the technical Directly Responsible Individual (DRI) for opto-mechanical display subsystem design, development, and implementation for head worn devices, including wave guide, display engines, and Rx lenses. You will work closely with external partners to support technology deployment and product development.

What believers are saying

  • Q2 2026 revenue rose 24% to $119.8 billion, beating expectations handily.
  • Google Cloud grew 82% to $24.8 billion, powered by AI infrastructure and solutions.
  • Google hired Windsurf leaders for $2.4 billion, strengthening agentic coding and developer tools.

What critics are saying

  • DOJ remedies bar exclusive Search, Chrome, Assistant, and Gemini deals through 2031.
  • Google must share search index and interaction data, accelerating rivals like OpenAI and Perplexity.
  • Ongoing cloud and design layoffs signal AI spending pressure; margins compress if monetization slows.

What makes Google unique

  • Google Search still drives 17% revenue growth and unmatched query-scale distribution.
  • Gemini reached 950 million monthly users by July 2026, embedded across Search and Cloud.
