We are looking for an experienced Data Modeller specialising in the payments space for issuer processors.
In this critical role, you will design and implement data models to support the processing of payment transactions, card issuance, client onboarding, and the management of customer account data. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, ensuring data integrity and optimizing system performance to enable data-driven decision-making.
This is a key position where you will directly influence the data architecture that powers our payment processing systems and helps drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support different domains of payment processing system.
- Ensure data models are optimized for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Create data flow diagrams and entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) to represent data structures and relationships.
- Collaborate with business analysts, software engineers, product, and other stakeholders to gather and analyse data requirements.
- Translate business requirements into data models that support payment transactions, card issuance, and other related financial services.
- Establish and enforce data modelling standards and best practices.
- Work with data engineers to implement data validation and cleansing processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity.
- Work with data engineers to conduct regular data quality assessments and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Work with data engineers/analysts to analyse and optimize database performance to handle high volumes of transactions efficiently.
- Work with data engineers/analysts to implement indexing, partitioning, and other performance-enhancing techniques.
- Document data models, data dictionaries, and metadata for transparency and ease of use.
- Provide clear and concise communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding data architecture and design decisions related to data models.
- Ensure data models comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data modelling, customer account management, and payment processing.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Data Modeller in the payments industry, particularly with issuer processors.
- Strong understanding of payment processing systems, customer account management, card issuance and other related financial services.
- Proficiency in data modelling tools such as ERwin, PowerDesigner, or similar.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Familiarity with data warehousing, ELT processes and modern data architecture (lakehouse).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and security standards in the financial industry.
- Familiarity with cloud-based data warehouse solutions such as Snowflake, Redshift
