Requirements
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or an IT-related degree is required.
  • A Certified Ethical Hacker certification is required, with one or more years of journeyman experience or three or more years of master experience.
  • An (ISC)2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional certification is required, with one or more years of journeyman experience or three or more years of master experience.

Responsibilities
  • Analyze signature detection, anomaly detection, and data visualization-based methods for discovering, documenting, and reporting malicious and anomalous activity according to Department of War standards and criteria.
  • Analyze vulnerability scanner output, security and compliance metadata, and other Government Furnished Data to reduce the attack surface of the Department of War Information Network.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain methods for detecting malicious and anomalous activity according to Department of War standards and criteria using commercial off-the-shelf, government off-the-shelf, and open-source tools.
  • Document detection methods and include example data when available.
  • Review incident and event information, documentation, and reporting from other Cyber Security Service Provider teams and third parties, and automate detection of those events and incidents.
  • Maintain, edit, and customize detection methods by adding, refining, or reducing individual methods based on measured success and failure rates.
  • Use commercial off-the-shelf, government off-the-shelf, and open-source tools with structured and mathematical analysis methods to analyze supported environments and discover and document efforts to map or probe Department of War Information Network infrastructure for vulnerabilities.
  • Use commercial off-the-shelf, government off-the-shelf, and open-source tools with structured and mathematical analysis methods to analyze Government Furnished Data and discover and document efforts to exploit Department of War Information Network vulnerabilities or deceive users into exposing network information or increasing connected-asset vulnerability.
