Requirements
  • At least 2 years of Lead Medical Biller experience is required.
  • A medical billing diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Lytec or Medisoft is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is required.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must complete confidential DiSC testing and relevant skills testing before hiring.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the billing team and serve as the primary subject matter expert for the end-to-end claims lifecycle.
  • Lead the training and mentorship of new billing hires and ensure adherence to billing best practices.
  • Conduct routine audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal billing standards.
  • Partner with management to redistribute workloads, optimize team capacity, and maintain productivity.
  • Identify, report, and collaborate on solutions for issues affecting team duties, efficiency, or compliance.
  • Review, prepare, and verify claims for accuracy, completeness, documentation, and payer-specific clean submission requirements.
  • Verify billing information, charges, patient documentation, and insurance coverage before claim submission.
  • Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve denials by correcting errors, gathering documentation, and resubmitting claims.
  • Analyze Explanation of Benefits and Electronic Remittance Advice, confirm accurate payment posting, and manage appeals for underpaid or denied services.
  • Apply working knowledge of governmental billing regulations, including Medicaid, Medicare, and Medi-Cal Managed Care.
Desired Qualifications
  • Certification as a Certified Professional Coder is preferred.
