Requirements
  • Post-secondary education is required.
  • Three years of experience in Human Resources and/or Health & Safety and Benefits management is required.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
  • The ability to maintain professionalism in a highly confidential environment and deal with tact, diplomacy, and warmth is required.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to understand the needs of a diverse workforce are required.
  • Excellent attention to detail and superior problem-solving skills are required.
  • The ability to multitask in an extremely busy office is required.

  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite, Dayforce, Excel, Teams, and SmartRecruiters, is required.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage the hotel's health, safety, and wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Administer and case-manage disability claims and the hotel's Return to Work Program.
  • Administer the Group Benefits Plan and serve as a resource for related inquiries and issues.
  • Provide leadership in developing, communicating, and implementing a vision for occupational health and safety within the hotel.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate an effective health and safety management system that complies with legislative requirements, best practices, and corporate requirements.
  • Develop proactive preventative strategies and safety education opportunities for leaders and colleagues.
  • Co-chair the Joint Health & Safety Committee.
  • Prepare monthly health and safety reports and review them at Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings.
  • Educate employees about the Group Benefits Plan and Sun Life Pension Plan.
  • Administer the Group Benefits Plan and Sun Life Pension Plan in accordance with company policy.
  • Administer short-term disability claims on behalf of the hotel.
  • Advise on disability accommodation based on medical prognosis and physicians' recommendations.
  • Communicate with treating physicians and health care practitioners to ensure claim files are complete while maintaining privacy.
  • Manage the WSIB claim process, including claim filing and coordinating the Return to Work Program.
  • Support managers by providing training and updates regarding workplace injuries, disability accommodation, injury prevention, modified work issues, and employee absenteeism.
  • Prepare monthly benefit reports and coordinate payments with Accounting.
  • Perform payroll duties and update colleague data records on a bi-weekly basis, including entering new colleague files in Dayforce and updating employee data.
  • Act as a primary resource for Dayforce administration.
  • Assist the Director of People & Culture in implementing and deploying corporate procedures and programs.
  • Support the Director of Talent & Culture in administering the collective agreement and employee relations as appropriate.
  • Participate in colleague events.
  • Develop and deploy wellness initiatives and programs for the hotel.
Desired Qualifications
  • A diploma in Human Resources is considered a strong asset.
  • Previous experience administering accident claim management, disability management, Group Benefits Plan administration, or Health & Safety programs is considered an asset.
  • French language skills are an asset.
