Our Engineers and Planners build on an existing foundation of project management and technical skills. At Fehr & Peers, we emphasize rising to progressively higher levels of technical proficiency and greater degrees of management and leadership in our positions.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and solve complex transportation planning or engineering problems involving all travel modes
- Communicate clearly and concisely, using strong writing and presentation skills
- Use a variety of software programs effectively and make timely and informed recommendations to elected officials, managers, and decision-makers
- Work on a variety of projects, which may include traffic and transit simulation, multimodal corridor studies, transportation impact studies, bicycle and pedestrian studies, regional transportation plans, preparing design plans for transportation engineering projects, including complete streets, bikeways, traffic signal, signing/striping, and lighting projects and more
- Manage projects and develop high-quality internal and client relationships
- Actively engage in mentoring and knowledge sharing with staff around the firm
- Perform field reviews
- Lead business development efforts, and nurture client and teaming partner relationships
Qualifications
- 5 to 15 years of experience in transportation engineering and/or planning
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major (e.g., geography, math, statistics, economics)
- Florida Professional Engineer’s (PE) license or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) credential or ability to obtain within 6-months of employment
- Proven track record of business development through leading proposal efforts and cultivating strong client relationships that lead to repeat work
- Proficiencyand understanding in applyingFDOT, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards
- Familiarity with safety countermeasure selection and design
- Familiarity with mobility issues and how they affect transportation engineering and planning
- Strong communication skills and a passion for listening and engaging with diverse communities
- Interest and experience with mentoring and training staff
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification
- IMSA Level I/II and PTOE certifications
- ITS/TSMO experience
- Quick-build project design and implementation
- Active transportation planning and design
- Road safety planning and design
