Global data centre investment could reach $7 trillion through 2030, according to McKinsey projections. Six major hyperscalers—Amazon, Microsoft, Alphabet, Meta, Oracle and SpaceX—are expected to spend over $1.3 trillion in combined capital expenditures by 2027, S&P Global reports. Infrastructure suppliers are already seeing significant gains. Schneider Electric reported North American sales up 23% for the second quarter ending 30 June 2026. Vertiv raised its full-year net sales growth outlook to 31%, whilst operating profit jumped 44%. Eaton reported Electrical Americas orders up 41%. The surge is flowing through reseller channels, with Insight Enterprises posting a 65% increase in consolidated net earnings and Connection reporting 33.8% higher net income. Schneider expects installed data centre capacity to reach 200 gigawatts globally by 2030, roughly double current levels.
Schneider Electric has launched Schneider Charge, a residential Level 2 EV charger, in Canada. The charger features SmartAmp dynamic load management, which automatically adjusts charging output based on a home's available electrical capacity. This allows many homeowners to install a Level 2 charger without costly electrical panel upgrades, which can cost up to $9,000. The charger delivers up to 11.5 kW/48A of charging power and is available with NACS or J1772 connectors. It operates in temperatures as low as -30°C and is ENERGY STAR certified. The accompanying app enables drivers to schedule charging around time-of-use electricity rates. The product is available through electrical distributors and online retailers, with in-store availability at major Canadian retailers planned for later this year.
Schneider Electric has launched Schneider Charge, a smart Level 2 residential EV charger for the US and Canadian markets. The charger features SmartAmp technology, which monitors household electrical use in real time and automatically adjusts charging speed to work within existing electrical capacity. The system aims to help homeowners avoid costly electrical upgrades, which typically range from $2,000 to $6,500. By integrating load management directly into the charger, it eliminates the need for separate monitoring devices or gateway systems. Schneider Charge offers 11.5 kW/48A charging output and comes with either NACS (J3400) or J1772 connector options. The hardwired charger includes a 25-foot cable and is UL 3141-certified. A plug-in version is planned for early 2027. The product is available through authorised distributors and Schneider Electric's online marketplace.
Skild AI has raised $1.4 billion in its Series C funding round, bringing its total funding to over $2.2 billion and tripling its valuation to more than $14 billion in seven months. This marks the largest robotics AI funding round in history. The Pittsburgh-based startup, founded in 2023 by Deepak Pathak and Abhinav Gupta, emerged from stealth in July 2024 with a $300 million Series A at a $1.5 billion valuation. The latest round was led by SoftBank, with participation from NVIDIA's NVentures, Bezos Expeditions, Sequoia Capital, LG, Schneider Electric, and Salesforce Ventures. Skild AI develops a hardware-agnostic AI foundation model that can operate across various robotic platforms. The company acquired Zebra Technologies' Robotics Automation business in April 2026 and grew revenue from zero to approximately $30 million within months in 2025.
Schneider Electric has launched the next-generation APC Smart-UPS, the industry's first multi-chemistry uninterruptible power supply for distributed IT and edge environments. The system can run on valve-regulated lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries and supports future battery chemistries, allowing customers to upgrade batteries without replacing the entire unit. The new Smart-UPS delivers up to three times the base runtime, up to 1.4 times more power density, and up to 57% more outlets compared to previous models. It helps reduce power loss by up to 40% whilst cutting carbon by up to 25.6% and using 50% sustainable plastic. The SRTD On-Line series, available in 2.2kVA and 3kVA models, will be available to order in North America from 1 September 2026.
