Requirements
  • Current CNA Certification.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS if working in Utah.
  • Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures that the patient room is ready to receive the patient with equipment/supplies necessary during the labor and delivery process.
  • May be responsible to ensure that birthing rooms are maintained and stocked appropriately.
  • Assists patients with bed bath/showering, use of bed pan and/or using restroom, foley catheter care, and ambulation.
  • Obtains and documents vital signs of patient and newborns appropriate before, during and after delivery.
  • Prepares room for vaginal delivery by preparing and draping the patient and preparing appropriate equipment including the delivery table, and assisting the RN.
  • Prepares room for C-Section by preparing the patient, scrubbing for appropriate procedures, setting up and passing instruments, completes all instrument, sponge and sharp counts with RN. Ensures sterility is maintained throughout the operative procedure.
  • Understands the plan of care and delivers basic patient care by collecting and documenting patient data and reporting patient changes to the RN.
  • May do clerical duties as assigned.
