Requirements
- 3+ years creating and/or leading sustainability reporting for a public corporation
- 5+ years' experience in program or project management
- 5+ years' experience in sustainability, ESG, and/or corporate social responsibility in a large organization
- Bachelors' degree and/or master's degree in a relevant field including Sustainability Management, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, etc
- Demonstrated success in applying ESG and/or sustainability principles in alignment with company strategy and business needs and cross-functional program implementation
- Prior experience in management consulting preferred
- Strong program and project management skills to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and effectively set and meet deadlines
- Ability to lead through influence and motivate others to do their best work
- A collaborative working style and ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and within many functions (investor relations, internal audit, communications, brand, IT, etc.)
- Knowledge of Scopes 1, 2, and 3 measurement and reporting
- Clear understanding of common sustainability metrics and how business decisions impact them
- Experience with ESG reporting software
- Ability to navigate a complex and matrixed organization in a high-growth phase
- Strategic and entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to operate well under pressure with a high degree of composure and professionalism
- Offer proactive support and anticipate leadership needs in a timely manner
- Willingness to travel as required in support of assigned responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Lead development and program management of Rivian's annual Sustainability Report and all related sustainability content and disclosures across multiple frameworks/ rating agencies (e.g., CDP, GRI, SASB, MSCI, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics, ISS, Moody's ESG, etc.)
- Liaise with the relevant Rivian teams on Sustainability goal setting, data collection and controls, verification, and tracking / monitoring progress to plan for the KPIs
- Stay current with climate and sustainability reporting SEC guidelines, reporting norms, industry expectations, and the competitive landscape of our peers/comparators
- Lead and actively participate as an individual contributor in reporting activities including interviewing subject matter experts, drafting content, managing external agencies, facilitating functional and senior management reviews/approvals, and ensuring thorough coverage of broad business issues as well as our priority areas for sustainability
- Support onboarding of data management solutions and ESG reporting software, including tools and processes to track, monitor, and evaluate progress and performance against Sustainability goals and commitments
- Support the Senior Director, Sustainability with strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations
- Work closely with the senior leadership as they shape and execute upon enterprise-wide Sustainability targets, including Rivian's Net Zero commitment by 2040
- Staff the Planet & Policy BOD Committee with sustainability reporting updates and presentations
- Partner with Rivian Communications to build audience and channel strategies for sustainability communications to differentiate Rivian amongst peers/competitors and elevate the Rivian brand
- Support specific communications activations, including speaking opportunities
