This position is a hybrid remote position with an expectation of time worked at the Chicago, IL and the Des Moines, IA locations. Travel may be required up to 25% of the time regularly, and occasionally up to 50% of the time.
Essential Job Duties:
- Performs all work safely and meets the requisite training requirements.
- Supervises and manages external engineering contractors and supports Global Supply with oversight on SW/HW vendors.
- Manages and directs project teams with responsibility for several concurrent automation projects focusing on design, procurement, installation, configuration & coding, testing, and turnover.
- Maintains appropriate fiscal controls to ensure all projects are within the scope of the allocated budget.
- Responsible for work procedures, scheduling, cost control, project specification conformity, establishment of manpower levels, and the maintenance of accurate records.
- Implements the construction portion of the assigned project through day-to-day direction of all field activities and is responsible for all job site activities.
- Ensures timely and efficient execution of fieldwork.
- Acts as the primary contact for all project activities.
- Ensures all construction follows design specifications, is completed on schedule, adheres to budget, meets accounting requirements and is built to quality standards.
- Under minimal supervision, establishes field objectives and procedures within company guidelines as necessitated by conditions at the job site.
- Expands the Project Plan for subsequent phases (Project Initiation, Project Execution, etc.) and communicates and coordinates the implementation of the enhancements with the project team.
- Establishes, tracks, and reports status against key performance indicators or contractual metrics on a routine basis.
- Participates in the establishment of project organizational structure in support of proposal efforts.
- Demonstrates command of the schedule goals, key milestones, and approach to the work embodied in the schedule.
- Ensures that a firm scope-based schedule baseline is established and properly resourced.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the schedule tools, procedures, and work process.
- Implements corrective measures when measures are outside service levels or bandwidths.
- Consistently meets or improves upon the established schedule goals in their area of responsibility.
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years project management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to obtain Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification within 6 months of hire.
Training/Certification Requirements:
- Complete OSHA-30 within 3 months of hire.
- Obtain Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification within 6 months of hire.
Desired Qualifications:

Safety Responsibilities:
- Lead by example in modeling the safety behaviors and attitude expected by Amentum.
- Ensure employees comply with EHS policies and requirements by frequently visually verifying compliance. Immediately engage employee not in compliance.
- Inspect PPE and safety equipment prior to use and report any not ready for use.
- Immediately report any injury or incident to manager regardless of significance.
Physical Requirements:
- This position regularly works in an industrial environment and with industrial machinery that is frequently loud. Occasionally lifts, carries, transports items. Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner. Moves throughout the building to accomplish tasks. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment.
