Job Description:
The Student Affairs Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Student Affairs area of Louisiana State University at Eunice. This Student Affairs Coordinator reports to the Dean of Student Affairs and supports the Dean in the daily management and operations of the office. This role involves coordination student initiatives, assisting with case management, and promoting student well-being and success through responsive services and resources.
30% Identifying and Supporting At-Risk Students
-Actively communicate with students to keep them informed about resources, deadlines, and key information. Identify at-risk students and connect them with appropriate campus and community resources, including the on-site food pantry, counseling, financial aid, and career services.
-Utilize data from EdSights to monitor academic progress and identify students who may be struggling and at risk of withdrawing.
-Work with faculty, advisors, and staff to develop and implement effective student retention strategies and support for struggling students.
20% Special Events and Student Programming
-Plan and assist in the execution of a variety of special events and student programs, including orientation, professional ceremonies, and commencement.
-Manage all event logistics, including contacting guests and participants, creating and distributing event-related materials, ordering food and supplies, and monitoring expenses.
-Advertise and promote events through various channels, including social media. Conduct assessments to evaluate effectiveness and prepare after-action reports for future planning.
15% Scholarships Oversight
-This position will also oversee awarding, dissemination, acceptance, and tracking of all academic scholarships under the Office of Student Affairs umbrella and the LSU Foundation.
-Communicate with the Foundation Director regarding awarding of and tracking of Foundation Scholarships.
15% Management of Student Records
-Create and/or maintain databases with student information to include academic standing, requests for counseling services, and Maxient Conduct Software.
-Adhere to applicable law and university policies related to confidentiality of student
10% Student Organizations Oversight
-Assist in the management and development of new and existing student organizations, including overseeing the creation and election of class governance groups.
-Serve as a resource and point of contact for students in organizations, and act as an approval authority for their activities and expenditures in collaboration with organization advisors.
-Facilitate opportunities for student feedback and dialogue with school administrators. Oversee the annual selection process for honor societies
-Prepare purchase orders and other essential paperwork related to student organization and departmental purchases.
5% Budget Tracking
-Assist the Dean with tracking the budget in Workday, ensuring compliance with all internal processes.
-Regularly meet with the Dean to provide updates on budget status and prepare detailed budget reports as requested.
5% Other
-Assist the Coordinator of Student Life and the Director of Housing with various special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
-Represent the school at recruitment functions as needed.
-Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in student affairs and enhance student support strategies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in psychology, communications,
sociology, education, management, or related fields.
One to two years of relevant work experience in an office setting or with event planning/recruiting
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in higher education, counseling, education, student affairs, psychology or a related field.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Special and/or Physical Qualifications:
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs of office equipment/supplies/for table set-up/tear-down at events.
- Ability to push/pull equipment/carts/wagons up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
-Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage students.
Salary Range: $42,000.00-$45,000.00
