  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of relevant experience is required.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and effectively is required.
  • Medication administration training or certification is required according to state requirements.
  • Applicants must meet all health requirements.
  • Experience as a caregiver or Certified Nursing Assistant certification is required according to state requirements.
  • CPR certification is required.
  • A strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write, and communicate is required.
  • Applicants must be able to continuously walk and stand, perform work inside and outside, and sit infrequently.
  • Applicants must be able to lift, carry, and push the specified loads: constantly 0-10 pounds, frequently 11-50 pounds, and occasionally 51-100 pounds.
  • Applicants must be able to climb stairs frequently, with elevator use as an alternative when available.
  • Applicants must be able to bend frequently at the waist, knees, hips, and spine and may need to manipulate weights of 25 pounds or more.
  • Applicants must be able to squat frequently to reach below the knee and may need to lift 50 pounds or less.
  • Applicants must be able to twist or rotate occasionally at the trunk, hips, knees, and neck while manipulating weights of 25 pounds or more.
  • Applicants must be able to reach frequently, including occasional overhead reaching involving weights of 10 pounds or less and below-waist reaching involving weights of 25 pounds or more.
Responsibilities
  • Provide medication assistance and personal care to community residents according to organizational guidelines.
  • Complete care-service documentation according to company standards.
  • Participate in narcotic counts at shift change and accurately document inventory counts.
  • Administer medication as directed in compliance with the Rights of Medication Administration.
  • Participate in weekly medication cart audits as assigned.
  • Assist with timely medication reordering.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the medication room and medication cart.
  • Fax new medication orders to the pharmacy to obtain medications accurately and promptly.
  • Inform families when mail-order medicines need to be reordered.
  • Follow the Physician Order Protocol when processing orders.
  • Document and report resident changes of condition or status according to policy.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining resident charts in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in community wellness programs as assigned.
  • Obtain and record residents' vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and weight, as directed.
  • Observe residents for responses to specified medications and prepare an incident report or notify designated personnel of unexpected reactions.
  • Answer call lights promptly and attend to unanticipated resident needs as soon as possible.
  • Address associate, family, and resident concerns appropriately to promote satisfaction and effective communication.
  • Follow the community's fire evacuation and disaster policies and participate in fire and disaster drills as assigned.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of pertinent personal and health information concerning residents and staff.
  • Follow compliance and ethics program policies and procedures.
  • Complete mandatory compliance, HIPAA, and state and federal regulatory training.
  • Oversee resident aides during the assigned shift and ensure assigned tasks are completed by care team members.
  • Attend community training courses and maintain current monthly, quarterly, and annual training through the designated learning management system.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties related to the success of the community and the care, comfort, and happiness of residents.
